    Ruthmere Museum is proud to announce the 2019 Robert B. Beardsley Piano Prize Competition. This competition seeks to discover the next piano virtuoso in the music world.

    Preliminary Round: Deadline August 1, 2019

    Entrants for the Beardsley Competition are required to complete the Competition Registration Form and prepare a video audition, 5 to 10 minutes long, showcasing two contrasting musical styles or time periods. Video submissions via YouTube links are preferred.  Up to 6 Finalists will be selected. Entry fee of $25 per competitor.

    Finals Round: Live Competition on September 28, 2019
    Finalists will perform 15-20 minutes of music for the judging panel and the general public at the Ruthmere Game Room. Competition performances begin at Noon, with individual performance times yet to be determined. Tickets are available to the general public for just $5 per seat. Each finalist will receive $100.

    Grand Prize Winner’s Performance: October 10, 2019
    Competition Winner is required to perform a full one-hour opening concert of the Ruthmere Fall Concert series at 7pm. Grand Prize winner will receive a cash award of $1,000 presented at the concert, and have his or her name displayed alongside the Beardsley Cup on permanent exhibit at Ruthmere.

    Are you a Champion?  You'd better eat your Wheaties!  Join us for the 2019 Ruthmere Breakfast of Champions on April 25th at the historic YWCA in downtown Elkhart.  The purpose--to educate the community on Ruthmere's  support campaign Ruthmere Champions, and to demonstrate that Ruthmere both needs, and is worthy of, the community's financial support.  This year's program theme is "Inspired by Ruthmere" and will highlight leaders who can trace the roots of their career success to their Ruthmere experiences in the past.

    Attendance is complimentary, but reservations are required.

    Join us for our Mother and Me Tea In Her on April 28, 2019 with tea food, sweets and an assortment of teas. This year's theme is In Her Shoes, and a presentation about a crazy but loving household will be shared by "Busy at Home" blogger, Lindsay Witwer. A collection of miniature shoes will be on display to accompany the theme.

    1st Source Bank and Patron of the Arts Mr. Terry Trimmer is the proud presenter of the 2019 Fischoff Soirée to be held Friday, May 10, 2019, at 7pm in the Ruthmere Game Room.  

           

    The Fischoff is the nation’s largest chamber music competition, which brings together young musicians from across the country and around the world. At the Ruthmere Soirée guests will enjoy 30-40 minutes of music from the ensemble’s competition repertoire followed by a reception with light refreshments. The musicians will also entertain questions from the audience about their music, their experiences and the journey that brought them to Fischoff. Tickets are $20.     This year, the Fischoff Soirée will feature the Galvin Trio of Northwestern University: Nanao Yamada (violin), Nansong Huang (piano), and Jasmine Pai (cello).

    "Six Seldom Cultivated Herbs -Try 'em You'll Like 'em", the last installment of  our Green House & Garden Workshop series, presented by master gardeners, Suzanne Gray and Gwen Ferland, will be Saturday, May 18 13th at 2pm at Ruthmere. Learn general information about cultivating, harvesting, drying and storing herbs,  along with “Show & Tell” six culinary herbs rarely cultivated.  Sample some tasty recipes!

    The 2019 Heart City Heritage Series will kick off on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 6:30pm at the Havilah Beardsley House. Indiana Landmarks' Deb Parcell will present "Stories Buildings Tell." This program presents how details in buildings can reveal the past and tell stories of the people who occupied them, aka how to "read" a building. Light refreshments served.     Ruthmere Museum is proud to announce the Second Annual Robert B. Beardsley Piano Prize Competition on Saturday, September 28 in the Ruthmere Game Room. In what is sure to become a new cherished Ruthmere tradition, Ruthmere seeks to discover the next piano virtuoso in the music world. Come listen to our six finalists compete for our panel of distinguished judges. Tickets are available to the general public for just $5 a person. Doors open at 11am. The competition will begin at Noon. Individual artist performance time are yet to be determined.

    The Beardsley Cup, composed of sterling silver and manufactured in 1907 in London, resides in a new custom built display case with the names of the winners of the Beardsley Competition.
